Singing fados in Havana

The fados, Portugal’s soulful anthems, will be played in Havana as part of the event ''The Human Voice. Multiple Languages,'' under the auspices of the Leo Brower Office: the Minor Basilica of the Saint Francis of Assisi Convent will held the concert on February 15th.

Fados from Portugal" will give Cuban audience a taste of this urban genre, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2011. Songs like &Lagrimas" and &Uma casa portuguesa" will be performed by prestigious Cuban singers, such as ConchitaFranqui, PilarPousada, Laura D'Mare, Yenis Santamaria, Maria Lucia Mendez and Saeed Mohamed.

With the support of Camões, the Portuguese Institute for Cooperation and Language and Portugal's embassy in Cuba, the concert will be one of the best choices in the event held from February 11-17, seeking to build bridges for exchange among national and foreign artists and professional musicians.
