Jardines del Rey, the second sun and beach destination in Cuba, is, without a doubt, an ideal place for water sports, which is why it has its own sports fishing tournament called “Jardines del Rey Big Game Trolling”.
Those who wish to participate in the fair can make their reservation now, since the call is open for this contest that will take place from October 24 to 29 at the Cayo Guillermo tourist marina.
In this, the eleventh edition of the tournament, men and women, professionals or amateurs, personnel related to the Sport Fishing activity and people who love this magical world, whether associated or not with fishing clubs and federations who wish to learn more about it, may participate.
The fishing area, sea and its species, will include up to 5 miles north northeast between Cayos Coco and Guillermo. That area in the Old Channel of the Bahamas is rich in the variety of species as there is an abundance of fish, including peralgic and billfish such as: the Fanfish, Casteros, White Agujas, Wahoos and Dorados.
From October to December is the period of greatest transit of these species in front of those keys, especially the Fan Godwit (veil fish), which is why the first month of that period has been chosen to hold the tournament and specifically between October 24 and 29 as they are appropriate according to the behavior of the tides and the moon.
To carry out this tournament, organizers have specialized crews with more than 20 years of experience in the area, aboard yachts between 33 and 42 feet, equipped with up to four (4) simultaneous poles, with lines of up to 60 pounds, appropriate for the capture of species included in the event.
Registration fees include credentials and official program of the event and participation in the welcome cocktail, awards ceremony and closing dinner. Participants can rent the boats for a separate fee that includes the specialized crew, fishing license, fishing gear, and light and liquid food.
Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places, according to the accumulated score, as well as one for the first capture of the peak species and another for whoever achieves the highest gold of the tournament. The team prizes consist, in all cases, of works of art allegorical to fishing, whose value varies according to the position achieved, in addition to typical Cuban gifts.
