Sun and Beach: One of the World’s Most Sought-After Tourism Segments

While global travel offers a diverse array of categories—ranging from nature and culture to history, sports, adventure, and gastronomy—the "Sun and Beach" segment remains one of the most consistently popular among international travelers, particularly in Caribbean destinations.

varadero-cuba-tourists-p.jpgCuba stands out as a premier Sun and Beach destination within the region. Beyond its near-perpetual summer climate, with average temperatures hovering between 26 and 28°C (79–82°F), the island boasts one of the most extensive coastlines in the Caribbean.

Spanning over 5,600 kilometers, Cuba’s shores are home to approximately 400 beaches, including those found throughout its pristine cays. These natural paradises offer visitors a wealth of vacation possibilities, characterized largely by expansive stretches of fine white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

For water sports enthusiasts, Cuba provides limitless opportunities. Sailing, fishing, surfing, diving, and snorkeling are readily accessible to visitors across most of the island’s coastal areas.

World-renowned spots such as Varadero, Playa Paraíso, Playa Sirena, Playa Pilar, Playa Ancón, and Santa Lucía—located on both the Atlantic and Caribbean shores—are consistently ranked among the finest in the region.

Reflecting this status, the upcoming 44th International Tourism Fair (FITCuba2026) will be hosted in Varadero. This edition will be dedicated specifically to the Sun and Beach segment, with Canada—the island’s leading source market—as the guest of honor.
