The legend of Guaní returns to reality with Proxcor S.A.

Perhaps the legend of the Indian of Guaní, a river that flows through Caibarién, Villa Clara province, is not well-known. However, according to history, in aboriginal times it was very good for fishing due to the abundance of biajacas, guabinas, eels, and shrimp that inhabited its waters, which attracted many fishermen.

This is where the story originated. According to legend, on moonlit nights, a genuine Cuban aboriginal would often be seen sitting on a rock in the waterhole near the road. This beautiful legend originates in Caibarién, where the factory of the Slovak-Cuban joint venture Proxcor S.A. (2019) is located.

This company produces cookies, sorbets, and breakfast cereals, and presenting its new cereal this Tuesday under the name Guani, "What you need to win." At a press conference to present the company's new product, Zuzana Skolárová, General Manager of Proxcor, spoke about the company's work in food production, specifically for breakfast. With a honey, corn, and chocolate flavor, Guani is the first cereal produced on the island, and foreign specialists were hired for its production.

However, the recipe was created in the country and is of high quality, said Skolárová. Regarding Guani's characteristics, the company's Marketing and Export Director, Alejandro Castellanos, noted that the main one is that it is a 90% natural product, with a Cuban flavor and superior quality.

Regarding the markets for Proxcor products, he first mentioned the domestic market, although they also hope to export to the Caribbean and Central America in general in the near future. Regarding production plans, the company expects to reach 2,581 tons of sorbets, cookies, and cereals this year, as well as diversify its markets.

In addition, this joint venture is very concerned about the environment and, worth noting, its objectives include contributing to community projects where it is located, such as hospitals, schools, daycare centers, and sports centers, among others.

To conclude the event, which was also attended by the Slovak Ambassador to Cuba, His Excellency Milan Zachar, the Deputy General Manager of Proxcor, María Iluminada Cachón, and its Commercial Director, Pavel Tamayo, among other guests, product supply contracts were signed between the joint venture and the Cubanacan and Gran Caribe Hotel Groups.
