Tribute to Wifredo Lam on the 115th anniversary of his birth

The exhibition Wifredo Lam illuminated inside is open to the public at the Center for Contemporary Art that bears the name of the emblematic painter, the organizers confirmed. Organized on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the birth of the author of The Jungle, the exhibition includes snapshots taken of Lam at different times in his life by prominent photographers of the island, including Raúl Corrales, Tito Álvarez, and Mario Díaz. In the Art Center, the documentaries Wifredo Lam, by Humberto Solás; At the crossroads of worlds, and In Search of Lost Unity, both by Fabrice Maze; and Powder of atoms, by Barbro Schultz. During the day of tribute will also present the books Artistic Practices and Social Imaginaries. Theoretical Event Eleventh Biennial of Havana (collective of authors); and Biennial of Havana. Critical words: 1984-2010, by Israel Castellanos. Lam (1902-1982), the most universal of the painters of the island, introduced black culture into Cuban painting and developed a renovating work that integrates elements of African and Chinese origin present in Cuba.
