Trinidad de Cuba celebrates its 510th anniversary

With the holding of the Solemn Session of the Municipal Assembly of People´s Power (government) this Sunday, several social projects were inaugurated and the celebration of the week of culture, Trinidad de Cuba celebrates in style the 510th anniversary of its foundation. The great event of the local government was chaired by Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who highlighted the meaning that participating in these celebrations represents for him and checks the effort made by the local authorities to beautify the city.

asamblea-la-trinidada-2.jpgWhen participating in the ceremony, which took place in the city's Plaza Mayor, Cultural Heritage of Humanity declared by UNESCO in 1988, Marrero highlighted the importance of the conservation of the buildings has for the historic center of the city, as well as its historical values and urged to continue protecting that legacy as one of the greatest attractions of this tourist destination, which he described as among the most comprehensive in the country.

For her part, Tania Gutiérrez, President of the Municipal Assembly, recounted the extensive program developed by local authorities with a view to this anniversary that included some 300 actions especially for the repair of health, education, commerce, tourism and culture both in the city and in the communities. Among the works inaugurated are the new headquarters of the Office of the Conservator of the city and the Valley of the Ingenios, the Casita of my dreams -center for the enjoyment of the childrren-, a mini aquarium on La Boca beach, the Patio Bécquer cultural center and La Casa de la Cerveza -Beer-.

Likewise, the 51st Culture Week began this Sunday in which the most outstanding local traditional music groups that also include event theorists, conferences, art exhibitions, among which the Colloquium of the Trinitarian Culture, in the National Museum of the Fight against Bandits. The solemn session served as a stage to recognize the work carried out by several local institutions on the occasion of the anniversary and to present awards to several leaders of the country.


asamblea-la-trinidada-3.jpgIt was also chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, Deivy Pérez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and first secretary in the province, Alexis Lorente, governor of Sancti Spíritus, ministers, and the highest authorities of the town.
