The XIV edition of Cuban Nature Tourism, Turnat 2024, concluded its activities with the announcement that the next event will be held in the Ciénaga de Zapata, in the western province of Matanzas.
The Cuban Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, described the event as a celebration of nature, sustainability and the inexhaustible potential of the beautiful eastern region of Cuba to which the event was dedicated. The six days of the event were an opportunity to immerse ourselves in unique experiences that brought us closer to the purest essence of our land, he emphasized.
Farm tours, trail explorations, photographic safaris, nautical activities, accessible tourism and hikes were part of the activities carried out, Garcia listed. Each one strengthened Cuba's commitment to promoting tourism that respects and values nature.
The balance of this edition could not be more positive, new alliances were created and, most importantly, we shared opinions that will have an impact on the development of sustainable tourism.
Turnat 2024 allowed us to enjoy the natural beauties of the east and provided the opportunity to reflect on how we can move towards a more environmentally friendly tourism. Turnat 2024 was held simultaneously in the provinces of Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo and included six routes dedicated to farm tours, hiking, photo safaris, nautical, accessible tourism and well-being, and walks. The program included tours to 36 communities, 85 destinations (33 in Guantánamo, 32 in Santiago de Cuba and 20 in Granma), an ambitious plan that was carried out in seven groups of no more than 20 people each to ensure environmental protection.
The event was attended by 130 specialists, tour operators and travel agents, along with journalists from the sector from more than 20 nations, especially from Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, China and the Netherlands.
