University and Innovation, for a sustainable and inclusive development" is the theme that focuses the 13th International Congress of Higher Education University 2022, which will be held at the Havana Convention Center, from February 7 to 11 next year.

The now traditional event will be held for the first time in a hybrid way due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with virtual forums, videoconferences and face-to-face sessions, with the International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Havanatur S.A. as receptive.

In a meeting with the press and entities linked to the event, Cuban Vice Minister of Higher Education, Miriam Alpízar, observed this congress in Cuba precedes the eighth World Conference on Higher Education that, sponsored by UNESCO, will be held in May in Barcelona, ​​Spain, for which the topics of the Latin American and Caribbean region will be examined here with a view to that forum.

University 2022 will include seven symposia on topics such as challenges and prospects for higher education in the face of the 2030 Agenda; quality of higher and postgraduate education; College extension; training competent professionals from an inclusive perspective; knowledge and innovation; role of student and union organizations, and University-Company linkage.

More than 20 workshops will address aspects such as internationalization, virtualization and financing in higher education, gender equality, academic editorials, science and technology, environment, energy and sustainable development, the University in rural environments, security and food sovereignty, habitat, community and local development, social and humanistic sciences.

Among other actions, the Havana forum also includes an Innovation Fair with the theme "R + D + i solutions in favor of development". Also present at the meeting were, María Victoria Villavicencio, director of International Relations of the Ministry of Higher Education, Adalberto González, director of the capital branch of Havanatur and Roldan Leyva, head of the Events Department of the receptive group.

In the past 25 years, 12 editions of the International University Congress have been held, with an average of three thousand delegates from more than 60 countries, and the presence in each edition of more than 300 rectors, 30 ministers of Education and Higher Education has been significant.; around 40 rectors' associations and over 50 international organizations and networks.
