Van Van’s Legacy Album a world success

Legacy, the most recent Van Van orchestra’s, album is already a great success in the world, declared in Santiago de Cuba Samuel Formell, the director of this legendary orchestra considered El tren de la musica cubana (the Cuban music train). 

In a press conference few hours before of the concert that they offered in the Mariana Grajales amphitheater, the drummer and composer emphasized that it is performs to pay tribute to his father, Juan Formell, founder of that orchestra and National Prize of Music who established a milestone in the national musical stave. 

Only two months after the album release, the first one took over as a leader of the orchestra after his father’s death, happened in May 2014, that record has struck a chord among the audience of several countries, besides Cuba, with an immediate and enthusiast impact on the Internet, he said. 

He told about the exchange with several Europe’s disc jockey and they have expressed him how necessary is for the Cuban music an album like this, which due to its big impression, has promoted different proposals in some European countries. 

"This record has given a boost to the Cuban music in the world", Samuel highlighted, to express that Legacy has been inspiration for many others outstanding Cuban orchestras’ directors who actually are recording, and he listed several nations where the orchestra will be perform in next months. 

The artist praised the presence of this city (Santiago de Cuba) in the mark and identity supported by the Van Van orchestra and in particular its sonority, which was an ever present feature in the philosophy and aesthetics of his father for almost half century. 

Likewise, he thanked to EGREM record company for the meticulous work carried out with that production which has made the orchestra very close, recently his siblings Vanesa and Juan Carlos were incorporated to the orchestra, as vocalist and bassist respectively.
