The Varadero Gourmet International Festival, this time in its 14th edition, will take place from September 11 to 13 at its usual venue in Plaza América and will have as its main theme “The evolution of Cuban gastronomy”.
In a press conference held this Wednesday, the Commercial Director of the company Extrahotelera Palmares, Ariadna Viñas, explained in detail everything that will happen at the event which will have an intense work program during the three days that, in addition to conferences, will include cooking, gastronomy, cocktail competitions and an exhibition area, where the participating entities will be able to show their products and services.
Topics related to changes in cooking, tradition and haute cuisine, artistic cooking, alternative cooking knowledge, evolution or renewed tradition and the teaching of gastronomy and its educational role, as well as conferences on cocktail making, will be at the center of the presentations to be made, among many other aspects. As for the competitions, in relation to cooking and gastronomy, there are six categories: best chef (starter), best chef (main course), best chef (dessert), best sommelier (pairing), best assistant and best gastronomic team. The cocktail competition will have only two categories: classic style in which there will be competition in black box and speed round and flair style (free).
So far, according to Viñas, representatives from Spain, Chile, Canada, Italy, France, the United States, Brazil, China and, of course, the host country have confirmed their presence at the event, organized by the Palmares company with the support of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) and Cubasol.
The press conference, which was also attended by the deputy director of Palmares, Lázaro Casabella, and numerous executives of the entity, was held at the Café concert Gato Tuerto, a Havana nightclub, considered the corner of feeling, with great tradition and which will celebrate its 64th birthday on the 31st.
Regarding the meeting with the press, the facility offered attendees a sample of the shows that Gato Tuerto offers every night, with the performance of Hidra María and her group, who showed great mastery in the interpretation of Cuban music, in particular the bolero.
