Varadero to hold Animal Production and Agrodevelopment Convention

The 2022 Animal Production and Agrodevelopment Convention will be held next October at Plaza América, in the iconic resort of Varadero, with the participation of specialists, professors, researchers, students, and national and foreign producers from this important economic sector.

At a press conference offered this Saturday at the National Hotel in the capital by members of the organizing committee of the event, headed by its president, Dr. C. José A. Díaz Untoria, from ICA, numerous details of this important meeting were announced, the objective of which was It is, among other aspects, the exchange of experiences and results of animal production systems.

Likewise, issues related to the technical, economic, environmental and social sustainability of animal production will be discussed, as well as strategies for the improvement, conservation, use and characterization of natural resources.

Among the topics to be addressed during the 6 days of  sessions -from October 10 to 15- are included: Livestock and environment; Pastures, fodder and other crops; Food, additives and bio-inputs; Nutrition, management, genetics and reproduction; Animal health and welfare; Agroenergy and circular economy; Biostatistics, bioinformatics, and socioeconomics; Agroecology and sustainable way of life and Innovation, territorial development and social equity.

In addition to these debates, numerous workshops related to the sector will be held, an associated exhibition for entities to exhibit their products and services and a business round for the agreement of commercial actions between scientific, academic and business institutions.

The event will have the hybrid modality of presence and those who do not have the possibility of traveling to the main venue can do so online. Also attending the press conference was Dr. C. Luis A. Hernández Olivera from the Indio Hatuey Pasture and Forage Experimental Station, MSc. María del Carmen Cejas Herrera from the Cuban Association of Animal Production and Dr. María F. Díaz Sánchez from the Cuban Institute of Animal Science (ICA).
