Margaret Atwood just launched in Havana an anthology of 23 stories from Canadian writers, entitled &From the Winter". Maybe Cuban readers don’t know much about Canadian literature, but they sure can recognize a living legend such Atwood…

The prolific poet, novelist, professor and political activist won the Prince of Asturias Award for Letters in 2008, and has been nominated for a Nobel Prize in Literature. With such credentials, it was easy for her win the heart and attention of the crowd.

She promoteda great book in whose pages appear stories by Mavis Gallant, Alice Munro, RudyWeibe, Carol Shields, Graeme Gibson and herself, among other authors.

Canada is the guest country of the 25thInternational Book Fair that takes place in Havana until February 19th, with the participation of representatives from more than 35 countries. It’s estimated that about four million books will be marketed in the island on occasion of this annual event.
