The around 60 professionals participating in the 17th edition of the International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism are preparing this Thursday to visit the famous resort of Varadero, the main sun and beach destination in the largest of the Antilles.
In Varadero, the current edition of the event will conclude. Attendees from Latin America, Canada and Cuba will enjoy the warm and transparent waters of that spectacular beach, its very fine sand and will be able to have wonderful experiences with different water sports.The day before, the last day of the academic activities of the event, interesting talks took place, among them the one given by the advisor of the Secretariat of Culture of the Colombian town of Pereira, Patricia Zorro, who spoke about the traditional festivals that take place every August in that territory. The specialist explained that these festivals date back to the end of the 19th century and include artistic shows, dinners and other activities for the enjoyment of residents of the area and visitors.
On the other hand, the Director of Heritage of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, Gladys María Collazo, addressed the importance of this issue from a tourist point of view, since it requires everyone to ensure the preservation and protection of the country's resources. For the specialists attending the seminar that ends this Friday, the event has been extremely useful and beneficial as it has allowed them to update themselves on different topics related to tourism, an economic sector that is becoming more important every day for the economy of numerous countries in the world, including those from the Caribbean area.
This 17th edition of the seminar was hosted by the "José Marti" International Tourism Institute in the capital, a center that together with its tourism chair extends the call, with the support of the Cuban ministry of that sector.
