Perhaps moved by this mystique, in the 1940s, Ramiro Murillo decided to adorn the walls of his home in Playa Girón, south of Matanzas, with seashells and marine stones. It was an offering of faith to the Virgin of Charity, a gesture of gratitude for his recovery after a serious illness.
