Cuban beaches, among the safest and most beautiful in the world
Cuba is a great destination for lovers of the sea. This country, with an extensive and diverse coastline, offers countless beautiful beaches, all clean, with warm waters, many of them international award-winners. Apart from the usual fame achieved by Cuban beaches, they are also safe places for a pleasant vacation.
In over 400 beaches stretching over 900 kilometers across the island, the largest Antillean island presents some of its richest treasures, where nature has provided extraordinary landscapes and where the climate allows vacationers to spend the whole year.
One of those wonders is undoubtedly Varadero, a magnificent Cuban beach resort whose charming geography makes up the Hicacos Peninsula, in the north of Cuba. It is the stuff of dreams, where one finds an excellent climate, awesome landscapes, calm waters, fine sand and unlimited fun.
This magnificent beach resort, a leader in the sun and beach product in Cuba and among the leaders in the Caribbean area, offers high-standard lodging in 4, 5 and 5-star superior categories, in addition to a wide range of non-hotel infrastructure and recreational services.
Since 2008, Varadero has been considered one of the best beaches in the world and previous visitors agree. TripAdvisor ―the largest travel website and reference site for travelers-, consulted millions of tourists to draw up a list of the 25 favorite beaches in the world and most users agreed on the beauty and amenities offered in Varadero.
Other beaches, no less attractive, are those of the Jardines del Rey archipelago, north of the provinces of Villa Clara and Ciego de Ávila. Of this group of islands, the Coco and Guillermo keys, open to international tourism, are the most visited and are among the main destinations for contemplative diving in the Caribbean. Both belong to the Buenavista Biosphere Reserve.
Cayo Coco, the largest island of that archipelago, has the important beaches Flamenco and Prohibida. The first is a strip of fine sand descending into a safe and welcoming sea. The latter stands out for its preserved sand dunes and its seabed, with astonishing biodiversity.
In Cayo Guillermo, the beaches are the right place to lie in the sun and enjoy the tranquility and delicate lapping of waves on the shore. Playa Pilar, the most beautiful, stands out among the best in the Caribbean, recognized by the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards last year.
In both keys, the beautiful and unique shores guarantee a wonderful summer season. All the surroundings are pleasant and the hotel infrastructure, of the highest standard, has been carefully designed to respect nature.
Together with these natural wonders, it is important to mention the health safety protocols that are fully complied with in these destinations, necessary in the current epidemiological situation.
In a recent press tour of Varadero, the rigorous measures applied there for the wellbeing and health of visitors were visible, similar to those in all Jardines del Rey facilities.
According to statements made by Ivis Fernández Peña, Delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in Matanzas, Cuban tourism has redesigned its processes, because today, more than ever, the safety of the destinations and our clients are protected under the established standards, which for us is of vital importance. Enjoyment and health are the main priorities.
Regarding the staff contact with the clients, the official explained the health protocols adopted in accordance with those set out by MINTUR and the Ministry of Public Health, including the already completed vaccination of the employees and people involved in the country’s tourism.
Another aspect leading to full enjoyment is that, in Varadero, as in the rest of Cuba, citizen security is a guarantee of a peaceful vacation. And now, in this new phase where biosafety is essential, all its facilities have been accredited with the Hygienic and Safe Tourism Certificate.
At the close of this edition, the good news was announced that Cuba is preparing the conditions to gradually open the country’s borders as from November 15, 2021, which includes the relaxation of sanitary measures for the arrival of travelers.
That news has surely been received with great joy and pleasure by those who are faithful lovers of this destination, especially Canadian tourists, regular visitors to the island for more than two decades.
