The flavour of La Ferminia

The Ferminia is a bird found exclusively in the Zapata Swamp on the south coast of Cuba but you can find one in the island's capital. This one is not a bird but a luxurious restaurant specializing in Cuban and international cuisine that has attracted Havana's food lovers for the excellence . of its menu and service.
Reading the menu can be a challenge for even the most demanding palate. Let's just imagine a starter salad of smoked salmon with capers and pineapple, followed by a Cuban style breaded lobster as a main dish. Or • maybe a combination of lobster, shrimps, mussels, fish fillet, chicken and beef with steamed vegetables that makes up the mixed grill platter of the house. Add your favorite wine from their extensive list and, for desert, a Bourdalux cake or a biscuit glazed with fruits with a chocolate sauce for a memorable meal.
La Ferminia is a place where Cuban and international cuisine go together. They have rescued dishes from Cuba's lexicon of historical cuisine and offer them alongside the best of the more modem dishes. The offer for vegetarians is quite appealing. There is a great demand for dishes like the cannelloni stuffed with fresh vegetables as well as for the vegetable stews of the season.
For meat lovers, there is a new and very reasonable offer in the garden patio called Espadas Corridas, or the "Running Swords." Grilled on a large outdoor charcoal barbecue, various meats are brought on the skewer and served onto your plate. The first sword has chicken livers wrapped in bacon. The next one has different types of sausages. The next is chicken followed by pork. The last is beef and before you can finish that, the friendly waiters are there asking if you want to repeat any or all of the swords. The offer comes with different sauces, a fresh salad sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, and either potatoes or a similar Cuban vegetable. After all this food you should reserve some space for the dessert included with your meal - a lemon cake, caramel flan or an ice cream cake.
La Ferminia is located in an eclectic and stylish former home. The original works of art, from important Cuban painters increases the distinction and elegance of this restaurant furnished with spacious private rooms, a patio surrounded by vegetation, and an extensive wine cellar.
Among the offers are a fa carte lunches and dinners, executive dinners, buffets, banquets, cocktails, and wedding parties. There also many options from the bar. I would recommend the Cubabella, an appealing cocktail that combines white and aged rum.
