As part of the extensive Natural Park and Protected Area Topes de Collantes, located in the Cordillera de Guamuhaya or Sierra del Escambray, in the central province of Sancti Spíritus, is the Codina Wilderness Park, a site as fascinating as the properties that host it. In turn, we would add that it is located very close to the colonial city of Trinidad de Cuba, a place full of history and very authentic traditions, the pride of Cubans for the magnificent state of preservation of its old architecture, which takes us back to the past, to the time that offers you the amusements of a city in constant renewal, of great cultural dynamics.
From the City of Trinidad you can leave on an unforgettable excursion to Codina. Speaking of that wild enclave, the suggestion is to opt for a somewhat rustic or vintage scheduled visit to the wild place, lost between hills, valleys, and mountains, enjoying the freshness of a deep tropical forest and very pure, invigorating air.
From the Codina enclave, where there is a ranch conditioned to receive vacationers, one of the most seductive views of the Caribbean Sea can be seen, whose coastline has delicious beaches. It leaves in a mountain truck or jeep. There is a viewpoint at the top to choose the best views or landscapes, while walks along the forest paths are guaranteed, under the guidance of guides, from whom it is highly recommended to accept walking the Encantos de Codina trail. Nearby there is a beautiful garden with varieties of orchids and a delicate bamboo grove, and the attractive Cueva El Altar which, together with the diversity of flora and fauna, are among the main attractions for nature lovers.
This hiking option is brief but sparkling and includes a light lunch and return to the tourist facility where you are staying, if it is in Trinidad, even better. It would be our recommendation as a recreational combination for those spectacular environments. The so-called Hacienda Codina -the aforementioned ranchón- also offers bathing services and medicinal mud massages, medicinal and ornamental gardens. Anyone comes out feeling new and more rejuvenated from a walk that might seem tiring, but what's up, is invigorating!
