Havana, international health capital next October
Havana will become the international capital of medical sciences next October when hosting two events in the sector: the 15th &Health for All" Fair and the &Cuba-Health 2022" Convention, as announced by the organizers at a press conference this Thursday.
Speaking before the national and foreign press accredited in Cuba, Dr. Ileana Morales, National Director of Science and Technology Innovation of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) referred to the importance of these events that will reflect the relevance played by the largest of the Antilles in the confrontation with COVID-19.
Regarding the convention, Dr. Morales considered it a propitious place to exchange the most current issues in the health sector, as well as the experiences of the participating countries in areas of common interest. Likewise, this important meeting, which will take place in the Havana Convention Center, will deal with the challenges of Public Health, with emphasis on national and international policies that respond to the 2030 Health Agenda, within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
During the 5 days of meetings (from October 17 to 21), 19 events will be held including symposiums, congresses, conferences and workshops, among which topics related to maternal and child health, gerontology and primary health care stand out. 

Other relevant issues to be addressed are, without a doubt, those related to the response of the health sector to the devastating consequences derived from the pandemic -which has plagued humanity for the last two years-, the impact of climate change on health, safety and quality of medical care, emerging diseases, the quality of health systems and services, and new forms of international cooperation, among others.
Regarding the 15th International Fair "Health for All", which will be held at the PABEXPO site, Dr. Armando Garrido, president of MEDICuba SA, explained that its main objective is to promote new projects and carry out strategic commercial alliances and exchanges of different topics that allow closer ties with national and international entities. He meant that prestigious entities from the Cuban biopharmaceutical sector belonging to BioCubaFarma would participate in this commercial event to present the progress and development achieved in this area, both in the confrontation with SARS-COV 2, and in other health programs.
A relevant event within the exhibition will undoubtedly be the first Medical and Wellness Tourism Fair, organized by the Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos SA (CSMC SA), which will make it possible to publicize the different programs offered by said entity to those interested. to visit the country to treat an ailment or simply improve their quality of life.
Both the convention and the fair will be held both in person and virtually, to facilitate the participation of those professionals interested in attending and those who cannot be present.
Also attending the press conference was Dr. Pastor Castell-Florit, an academic from the Cuban Academy of Sciences and director of the National School of Public Health, as well as other officials from the MINSAP, MEDICuba and different organizations of the sector.
