Numerous specialists will attend third heritage meeting documentary film

More than 40 Cuban and foreign specialists will attend the 3rd Havana International Meeting “Preservation of Documentary Heritage: experiences and challenges”, to be held between the 18th and 22nd of this month, it was officially reported.

In a recent press conference, organizers highlighted the importance of this event that will contribute to promote the exchange of experiences on the preservation of documentary heritage, both in the national context as international, where conservation processes will be included, restoration, digitization and digital preservation.

Omar Valiño, director of the José Martí National Library, recounted the activities that will take place during the meeting, whose venues will be the institution he leads and the Quinta de los Molinos, both in Havana.

During the five days of this important event, 33 authors will present their experiences regarding the central theme, there will also be 21 presentations and four conferences, among other activities. On the other hand, attendees will have the opportunity to take a tour through the facilities of Quinta de los Molinos, and will participate in the inauguration of the exhibition “Between necessity and footprint” and an exhibition of drawing and painting from the San Marcos Art Museum, located in Lima, Peru, among other activities.

Speaking at the conference, Osdiel Ramirez Vila, Researcher-Restorer of that prestigious library meant that the program planned for the meeting is marked by the diversity of the preservation of the document, from the richness and cultural contribution that conservation can offer every day to professionals, researchers, consultants and the press who work with it.

The event will be attended by specialists from the National Archive of Cuba, the Academy of Sciences, the Office of the Historian of Havana and the University of Havana, among other institutions in the country, as well as researchers and experts from the United States, Panama, Mexico, Chile and Peru.

This type of meeting, whose first edition was held in 2017, is of great importance. significance, since the preservation of documentary heritage in all types of supports, both historical, cultural or from other areas of life, symbolize the way of conceiving and existing the world and contribute to giving value to the subsistence of humanity.
